The Corning™ factory in Harrodsburg has an amazing history of manufacturing, development, and innovation that continues to grow and evolve while maintaining its roots in glass manufacturing. One of the cornerstones of this long history is its commitment to excellence and its employees. As a result of this commitment to the well-being of its employees, Corning has embarked on a project to make pedestrians aware of the dangers present on its site, such as forklifts and other material handling equipment.


Corning used tape and paint to mark out alleys and corridors throughout its site to create safe paths for pedestrians. For busy intersections, she used physical traffic signs. However, Corning faced a major challenge in maintaining these areas constantly, as paint and tape were wearing away as a result of the forklift trucks passing by. In addition, the company was facing issues of complacency on the part of pedestrians towards physical signs.
