Why install a swing gate?

When you need to mount equipment on your roof using a forklift or jib crane, there are several options for working safely. Installing a guardrail with an integrated opening device is essential to ensure worker safety. The swivel gate allows you to create a temporary opening to bring materials onto the roof of the building or mezzanine, while providing a safe place for the worker on the roof to stand. In fact, the completely self-supporting system features a safe 5' wide space that allows a view of the operation and communication with the worker on the ground. The pivoting barrier can also be installed on the roof to separate two work areas, or when larger access is required to a roof basin.

Where to install a swing gate?

A swing gate can be installed on all flat roofs, where periodic maintenance is required. If your building has a lifting jib, a swing gate should automatically be considered. The swing gate can be installed without perforation on a flat-roofed building, as long as space is available around the perimeter for its supporting posts. It can be used alone or in combination with a complete guardrail system.

Locking

When not in use, the swivel gate should be locked with the pin designed for this purpose. The swivel gate meets building code standards with the pin only in place.

Loading area

The 10' wide by 5' deep loading area allows material to be received in bulk or on pallets. It is essential not to stand in the cargo area when the gate is open. Once it is closed, employees can have access to the equipment. The barrier meets the guardrail standards of the National Building Code.

Complies with the Building Code

When closed, the swivel gate complies with the loads specified in section 4.1.5.14 of permanent guardrails of the National Building Code. The adjacent railings also comply with the same standards.
